Herbal Programs

When you apply to the school, you can specify this option on your application.  If you register for all three, you receive a significant discount.

You can finish all of your programs within one year if you start in January with our Introductory offering.  Otherwise, it can take up to one and a half years.

To register for one program, the first step is to apply.  Then, to hold your space, you must either put down $500 for one program, $850 for two programs, or $1250 for all three.

You may test into our intermediate or advanced programs.  Please specify this on your application.  Due to the rigorous nature of our programs, we require you to pass certain assessment tests in order to do so.

Programs are open to groups of 10-20 people that come together to learn over several months, sometimes up to year with mainly classroom, lecture, homework, projects, labs and demos.  We take more people, and there is a lot more content covered.  Apprenticeships are only open to small groups of 5 or so students per season, depending on the topic.  Preference is given to current program students but all may apply, and they may be taken more than once, as the seasonal content changes.  This additional training allows for more hands-on work in the gardens, or with specific topics like women's health or clinical mentorships or outdoor skills.  Apprentices work directly with herbal clinicians and teachers, and spend more time with handson training, than lecture.  This is a good add-on to your program if you want to go deeper into working directly with herbs. Otherwise, we suggest you start with the Home and Family Program to learn basic herbalism.  This is not a choice for people without a background in herbalism.

REFUNDS, CANCELLATIONS, WITHDRAWALS POLICIES

Individual Classes

If the class does not make or has to be cancelled for some unknown reason(weather, sickness etc), we refund your payment back and will inform people asap as to the situation.  You may also choose to apply your payment to the rescheduled class date or another class.

Please note that plant walks and classes held outside will only be rescheduled if the weather is unsafe for travel. This does not include drizzle and rain. Please dress appropriately. We will always check in the afternoon and post what the verdict is prior to a class if floods or tornadoes may keep a class from being safe to attend.

Wee require pre-payment for most classes.   If you decide to just show up at an event because you are unsure of whether or not you are going to be able to make it, and decide to pay at the door please contact us and let us know that. Only those that prepay will be ensured handouts and a space, but you are welcome to show up last minute if the class has made at 5 people or more, and the event is not full, as long as you realize that full payment is due at the door and that you may or may not end up with handouts during class. You may instead have to have them emailed to you.

If for some reason something comes up 72 hours or more before the class that you already paid for and it is an emergency hardship(death, illness, accident), we may consider refunding the money if we are able to.
If for some reason something comes up after that time and you miss class, it is very unlikely you will receive a refund.  . If the reason for not attending is deemed a hardship, we may be able to at least do a partial refund. We treat everything on a case by case basis.

We hope you understand this policy is to create respect for our teachers time and energy and ensure that they are able to teach in the future. We offer several free events a year to ensure everyone can learn and access herbalism, the people’s medicine. Our teachers are extremely talented and committed and your payment and commitment helps them to dedicate their lives to herbalism.

I hope that this policy seems reasonable to folks, and again I treat everything on a case by case basis so the key is clear, prompt communication.

Program Withdrawals and Cancellations

Please refer to the paperwork you sign when you register for the program.  Most withdrawals are refundable within the time frame indicated in your program paperwork signed before classes start.  If you withdraw after the time allotted, your place has been held, and in the event we cannot fill it you may be liable for the full amount.  Once class has started there are no refunds.  If you believe your situation is what would be considered an emergency hardship(death, illness, accident), please let us know asap, and we will schedule an appointment to speak with you, as we treat things as much as possible on a case by case basis.

Products

If you receive a product you are unhappy with or that you have concerns about, please promptly contact us within 1 week of purchase.  We are happy to try to replace any damaged or otherwise problematic items if we are able to.  If the item is damaged in shipping, we may also need the tracking number so we can take it up with the carrier.
