Cultivating Diverse Ecosystems That Build on Themselves Over Time: C Texas Fall Farming
Come learn about the layers of a food forest and get to know different herbal allies and the various roles they serve in the garden ecosystem. In this class, which will be held near Martindale at Small Town Farm, we’ll discuss ways to increase biodiversity in your space and demonstrate various techniques for making more plants from what’s growing around you. Participants will leave with simple strategies for creating joyful, abundant landscapes for people, plants, and wildlife. We will have an onsite activity so please come appropriately dressed
Bio:
Cristen Andrews is a permaculture gardener, herbalist, writer, photographer, and lover of the more-than-human world. She received herbalism training at the Wildflower School and got her permaculture design certification from the Austin Permaculture Guild. She and her partner, Miguel, are stewards of their one-acre homestead and small-scale plant nursery (smalltownfarm.com), where they offer various pathways for nature connection and homegrown wellness. You can find their plants and herbal offerings at the San Marcos Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.
